One of our senior technical advisors, Joseph Gibbons, has been invited by the Scottish Ecological Design Association Solar Group (SEDA Solar) to join its working group and to be a judge for the Kerr MacGregor Award for Solar Innovation 2023.
Joseph, who is a former recipient of the Kerr MacGregor Award, was selected by SEDA Solar due to his research achievements in solar innovation and his experience as a technical advisor within the renewables industry.
Joseph holds a PhD from the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. His thesis 'Recycling Light for a Cleaner Future’ broadly explored two separate techniques that improved the performance of solar photovoltaic cells via manipulating infrared photons. He has collaborated with various research groups including the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems and the European Space Agency, and has published several peer-reviewed research articles on the themes of renewable energy systems.
He has been professionally involved in the renewable energy sector for more than a decade, delivering multi-disciplinary technical due diligence analysis for project financing and acquisition, specialising in onshore wind, hydro, and solar technologies.
SEDA, which is a charitable, membership organisation that promotes ecological design across Scotland, has re-launched the Kerr MacGregor Award which celebrates individuals who have demonstrated or evidenced novelty and a potential impact in their field. It is open to all practitioners and academics of related disciplines in the built environment including architects, engineers and scientists.
The awards open for entries on 29th September 2023, close on 10th November, and the ceremony event will be held on 25th January 2024.
